History

R.I.B. Reinsurance International Brokers S.p.A. was founded on 13 April 1988 in Milan by Franco Curioni, current Chairman of the Board of Directors.

As an independent broking house, RIB began its activities with the objective of providing services to its clients in facultative reinsurance, becoming a key operator on the Italian market.

RIB has opened offices in 1997 while developing and consolidating its expertise and know-how on the US market with the incorporation of R.I.B. (North America) Inc., headquartered in New York and now operating as a representative office.

During 1999, RIB set up RIB International AG in Zurich, a company entirely dedicated to production and management of international contracts.

The London representative office opened on 1st July 2002 as a first step towards a more stable and organised base for RIB Group on the UK market.

In 2003 RIB opened a branch in London, becoming the first insurance and reinsurance broker of entirely Italian ownership to operate directly on the London market.

In 2007, R.I.B. Reinsurance International Brokers S.p.A. was approved to operate as Lloyd’s Broker with the acronym RXB 1103.

RIB is also authorised to work in direct insurance. However, it is in the role of professional reinsurance broker that it now features among the main players on the Italian arena (the first completely Italian reinsurance broking house) both for Facultatives and Treaties.

By virtue of its cooperation with several partners, the RIB Group is active almost worldwide, offering clients extensive and highly-qualified services.
